Nurturing a Better Workforce & Better Life in McHenry County
Like many organizations around the country, employers in McHenry County are challenged by a highly competitive job market. As companies struggle to fill positions, the McHenry County Area Businesses Connect collaboration establishes early connections between area businesses, influencers (i.e., local educators), and local career opportunities. By raising awareness of various career opportunities, this collaboration can establish relationships between companies, organizations, and prospective hires before they even enter the job market.
McHenry County Area Businesses Connect is designed to build and keep more talent right here in McHenry County. With countless opportunities in a wide range of industries, many student career paths are in McHenry County, including manufacturing, technical services, medical, skilled trade, and more. Area Businesses Connect establishes relationships between influencers and local businesses offering a firsthand look at day-to-day operations and the workforce needs of their company or organization. Finally, this collaboration strengthens a homegrown, local workforce, making McHenry County an even better place to live.
Area Businesses Connect is endorsed and supported by the Community Foundation for McHenry County and the McHenry County Economic Development Corporation.
Kickoff Event
8:15 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2023. Group will leave from Boulder Ridge Country Club at 8:30 a.m sharp.
This event will include tours and a Q&A sessions for influencers at MAC Automation Concepts and Flocon Solutions from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Woodstock, followed by a two-hour information exchange session and reception from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Boulder Ridge Country Club, 350 Boulder Drive in Lake in the Hills.
Influencers Connect Students to the Right Careers
As trusted adults in the lives of their students, influencers can provide the guidance and resources needed to influence their future in a positive way while keeping both jobs and families in McHenry County, strengthening the local economy and ensuring a better quality of life for all residents. Area Businesses Connect can help guide present and future curriculum to assure our young workforce is ready to meet the demands of local employers in addition to life skills and career planning. This collaboration will open the door to endless possibilities for students who may not have known those career opportunities existed in their own backyard, thus empowering them to become tomorrow’s leaders, while remaining in McHenry County.
