This year, The Community Foundation for McHenry County (The Foundation) was able to award a total of 67 Mission Grants to deserving charitable organizations who serve our friends and neighbors in McHenry County. These grants were made possible by the generosity of The Foundation’s donors and enabled us to distribute $1,050,000, which is a 140% increase over 2020.
Recipients of the 2021 Mission Grants will be using the funds awarded to further their missions through the development of a specific project/program or to support the general operations of the organization.
We are humbled by the impact these donor dollars are making in McHenry County and would like to share just how much these gifts mean to the charitable organizations that they support. Below are some of the heartfelt notes of thanks we have received from 2021 Mission Grant recipients.
Main Stay Therapeutic Farm
We are excited to share that Main Stay was awarded a mission grant from The Community Foundation for McHenry County! These funds will be used to support a new collaborative effort called Back in the Saddle Again: Encouraging Connection After COVID-19. It will be offered to several county agencies including Pioneer Center for Human Services, Youth and Family Center of McHenry County, McHenry County 22nd District Court, and McHenry Middle School. The program will benefit individuals who may have experienced extreme isolation during the pandemic. Program participation will encourage interaction and connection with each other and the animals which will help to promote a greater sense of well-being.

“We are extremely grateful for the support of The Community Foundation for McHenry County. I’ve been lucky enough to work for several organizations in the county and see how great of an impact you’re funding has across not only our organization, but many others as well. Thank for your hard work to help our community!”
