The Community Foundation for McHenry County is proud to announce the successful launch of The Women’s Fund, an endowed granting fund created to support programs and organizations that uplift women and girls in McHenry County.
Thanks to the generosity and vision of 47 founding donors, more than $150,000 was raised to permanently endow this fund, ensuring that grantmaking will continue for generations to come.
In its inaugural grant cycle, The Women’s Fund awarded $35,000 to three local nonprofit organizations making a meaningful difference in the lives of women and girls:
- $20,000 – Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Northern Illinois
EmpowHER: Guiding Women Toward Financial Strength - $10,000 – Farmworker and Landscaper Advocacy Project (FLAP)
Women’s Empowerment Initiative - $5,000 – The BREAK
BREAKing Limits, Building Legacy: Women Who Lead
“This is a powerful example of what happens when people come together to support the causes they care about,” said Jessica Rizza, Director of Philanthropy at The Community Foundation. “Because of 47 generous donors who believed in this vision, The Women’s Fund is now a permanent resource for advancing opportunities for women and girls in our community. We’re thrilled to see the first round of grants already making an impact.”
The Women’s Fund represents both a celebration of progress and a commitment to the future. These first grants are just the beginning of what will become a lasting legacy of support, equity, and opportunity for women and girls in McHenry County.
