The Community Foundation for McHenry County hosted its inaugural Women in Philanthropy Event, and what a night it was! Over 100 incredible women gathered, filling the space with energy, passion, and a shared commitment to making a lasting impact. This event was more than just a gathering, it was the start of a powerful movement to uplift women and girls in McHenry County.
The evening was filled with inspiration as women shared their heartfelt wishes for the future of women and girls in our community. They envisioned a McHenry County where women and girls feel supported, confident, independent, and safe, with every opportunity to achieve their dreams. One particularly touching wish stated, “That women and girls know their true worth and value and can truly accomplish great things in McHenry County.”
During the event, The Community Foundation highlighted an important message: Women are now leading the way in philanthropic giving, yet only 2% of philanthropic dollars go toward initiatives specifically designed for women and girls. Our mission is to change that—starting right here in McHenry County.
This event launched two key initiatives:
- Women in Philanthropy Community – We are building a network where women can learn about local needs, philanthropy trends, and ways to amplify their impact. The enthusiasm in the room confirmed how much this community is needed, and we are thrilled to continue this journey together, fostering education, collaboration, and lasting change.
- The Women’s Fund – Thanks to the incredible generosity of donors, we have already raised $136,000 toward our $150,000 goal to establish this endowment! Once fully funded, the Women’s Fund will provide grants to benefit women and girls in McHenry County—forever. We are so close to making this vision a reality, and with just a little more support, we can reach our goal. If you would like to help us cross the finish line, click here to learn more and donate.
