In June, The Community Foundation welcomed grantees and scholarship recipients at the Grants and Scholarship Community Celebration held at Boulder Ridge Country Club honoring the work of the nonprofits and students who received awards, along with the donors, whose generosity and commitment to McHenry County make this work possible.

“The privilege of awarding these grants and scholarships is something I am deeply grateful for in my role at The Community Foundation,” said Amy Hernon, Executive Director. “Every year, I’m inspired by the incredible nonprofits and students we get to celebrate, the creativity, the dedication, and the real difference they’re making across McHenry County. These grants and scholarships aren’t just checks we write; they’re investments in the people and programs that make our community stronger. And the need is real: this year we saw a record number of funding requests from organizations doing meaningful work, which tells us just how much more there is we could do together. It’s a privilege to invest in this community, and we’re committed to growing our capacity to say ‘yes’ to even more of it in the years ahead.”

“Of course, no grant, student scholarship, or charitable investment from The Community Foundation would be possible without the generosity of our donors,” said Jessica Rizza, Director of Philanthropy. “Every gift we receive is a vote of confidence in this community, in its students, its nonprofits, and its future. We take that trust seriously. Our job is to steward those charitable dollars carefully and put them to work where they’ll have positive impact right here in McHenry County.”

The Community Foundation would also like to extend a special thank you to The Community Foundation Board Members and volunteers who review applications, all who are critical to a successful awarding cycle.
